Chose the audio book of the Clive James translation and was really knocked out by how it really came to life. I really struggled with the original text all those years ago, and found it difficult to stay awake much after 'Nel mezzo del cammin di nostra vita'. A real gem that keeps you listening.

-> Dante Alighieri, you would have LOVED AO3!! Congrats on writing the most successful self insert fanfic of all time. Seems like the final chapter never came tho because that ending was GARBAGE.

I think I liked Purgatorio the best. There was a clear direction, up the mountain. You get to hang out with good humans, and be with Virgil. Paradisio was my least favourite, mainly due to the Medieval astronomy. Inferno is really good, I somehow found the meeting with the devil to be anticlimactic. Although Eve is mentioned several times, does she appear in any of the spheres?

The seven circles of hell are depicted in a more picturesque way than the heaven which appears to be a bit boring. Indeed, the hell is the best part of the book. For Alighieri's time, it's a great masterpiece, for ours - nothing than mythology. Yet I admire its high poetic value.

The questions about books here are hilariously inappropriate for the Divine Comedy. What is there to say that hasn’t already been said? One of the finest works of literature ever and a great translation.
