This story is a trip, both in the poems and out of it. Its the two-in-one combo of reading 700 year old poetry and said poetry being about people's eyes being sewn shut for me. Any way, highly recommend for both cultural and comedy reasons.

Finally, I've finished this book and it took me just almost a year to do it.
In my defense, it is not that "intense" as how others claim it to be.
I mean, it is a journey in hell and heaven, but at this point in time they looked the same. Maybe I am being a tad cynical.
It is a good book if you are into fancy language, i.e. "spangled firmament".
That is one way to describe the Christmas lights, all right.

امام واحدة من اعظم ما كتب في التاريخ تصيبك الرهبة والخوف قبل انطلاق هذه الرحلة العميقة صبحة دانتي.
ترددت كثيراً قبل القراءة وكنت اضع الحواجز التي جعلتني اقوم بتأجيل قراءتها اكثر من مرة، ولكني ادرك الان القيمة الادبية العظيمة لهذا العمل.
لا شك ان دانتي اجاب عن العديد من الاسئلة التي تدور في اذهان الناس يومياً، لقد شرح لنا بالتافصيل الجحيم والمطهر والفرودس وقد اختار ان يفعل ذلك بطريقة بعيدة عن تعاليم الكنيسة التي تميل الى تعقيد الامور، لقد اختار دانتي ان يكون عالمه الخاص بعد ان تم نبذه فسبر ببراعة اغوار هذه المحرمات الدينية التي تربينا عليها.
عليك ان لا تهاب قراءة هذه العمل، بل تقدم عليه لانه كفيل بان يقدم لكل رحلة روحية لا يستطيع اي شخص مهما كان ان يقدمها بهذه الطريقة.

Great to know for historical reasons and Dante was definitelt a genuis in a lot of ways, but man was that a alog to get through especially in the Paradiso.

A really accessible translation of this classic, and very well read too. Inferno is still my favourite of the three parts but each time I read this I pick up something new. I would recommend this version for readers who want a "true" translation rather than an interpretation. This format may also be good for someone who has been wanting to read this but never got round to it.
