The way Seregil lusts for Alec even though he is Alec's mentor and even though Alec is only 16 years old and doesn't reciprocate those feelings is more than cringy and ruined the book for me. Also, the main plot is interrupted in the middle of the book and replaced by a secondary plot, which I also didn't like.

It's a shame since I really enjoyed the worldbuilding, the found family vibes and the vivid descriptions in the first half of the book.
