Didn't drag as much as the last one but I'm still baffled by how some scenes and usually medical procedures are drawn out in a lot of detail but then other parts skip from event to event with just a sentence to explain what happened.

I know some people did not like that this book was so long (1439 pages). However, I can't think of what I would cut out to spare the length. This was a perfect and wonderful addition to the series. The ending was so right - and although I anxiously await starting the next book in the series - the series could have ended here without a bit of regret from myself.

I abandoned this sixth Outlander book more than a year ago. During the last year, I read a lot of romance novels, trying to broaden my reading horizons. I read some great romance, some bad, and a lot of in-between. One of the things I was reminded of when I started this book again was what a skilled writer Gabaldon is. In my opinion, her books would be made even stronger with some (strong) editing.

With that said, I haven't enjoyed Outlander this much since the third in the series (my favorite).

I love the relationship between Jamie and Claire. But, it took me awhile to finish this one.

Would recommend it if you have read the other books in the series. I will finish the series, but I am going to take a break from it.
