There were huge chunks where I REALLY got into this book and other moments when I couldn't care less. Having just read Christmas in Evergreen I was ready to give Nancy Naigle another go (I mean I have been on a Hallmark kick lately) and this one wasn't Christmas themed (although with the snow on the cover it could have been holiday themed.... and speaking of the cover - whoever photo-shopped the cake on the cover... shame on you! It's awful!). Kelly and her fiance called it off years ago after he went to Paris to take a baking class and never returned. She fulfilled "their" dream of opening a very successful bakery all on her own and without that dumbass. Seven years later, old feelings return when Andrew comes back home to visit. Maybe they should have tried to make it work. Is it too late now? Things will get even trickier though when they find out their both competing on the same baking show. Do old wounds ever heal. Cheesy as all get out and super predictable. I dd however love all the baking show bits. That was fun and made me VERY HUNGRY while listening to the audiobook!

Delightful read. So glad to see a romance with suspense, but not conflict, which can so often feel contrived. This was a very original take on a familiar theme. I loved the character development and the story. So sweet, without being cloying.
This was such a cute book. Like, it gave me all the feels.
You could definitely tell that it was a Hallmark book, because it read EXACTLY like one of their movies.
I also loved the fact that it revolved around bakers and a cooking competition. I liked the whole concept of how the cooking competition worked (you are competing blindly against other bakers)
It was definitely a fun, easy to read book, and if you love Hallmark movies and/or Baking competitions (a la The Great British Baking Show) then you should absolutely give this book a read.

In this yummy second-chance romance featuring two bakers, Kelly and Andrew are high school sweethearts with a plan to open their own diner/bakery when Andrew’s family interferes and sends him away to Paris for formal cooking training. And so ends their romance. Seven years later, he’s back in town. Kelly has opened her own bakery and has a thriving business. And when an opportunity to participate in a cooking show and bake-off comes up, she jumps at the chance.
This was one of those DELICIOUS books that was perfect for cuddling up with on a cold day. So many yummy food descriptions, especially cakes and cookies. I felt like I was working in a bakery right beside Kelly. It was set near Valentine’s Day, which made for a nice holiday read.

Great for Hallmark.
Can high school sweethearts find their way back to each other when one lives in Paris and one has never left their hometown?
