3 out of 5, but good enough for me to want to read the other books in the series.

This isn't a book I would've picked myself, but when I gave my boyfriend the choice to pick any book for me, he chose this one. It wasn't until I'd already started that I realised it was the second in a series of books, which made quite some sense seeing as there were quite a lot of characters being introduced simultaneously.
I was under the impression I wasn't into murder mysteries but I was very wrong (makes sense since I love murder mystery tv series).

The book was slow and unrealistic at times, but I might just be too analytical. It also includes negative comments regarding the main characters weight, which I did not like. Besides that, it feels like the book could've had a little more diversity; it's possible some of the characters are more diverse but it's simply not mentioned, but as far as I'm aware all the main characters are white cishets.

All that aside, I enjoyed reading this book and the ending wasn't unrealistic and also not predictable. With this I mean that looking back, there were hints, and it wasn't an out of the blue ending that was just annoying because it didn't make sense (thinking about Pretty Little Liars the tv show), yet I also was not expecting the ending and throughout the book I kept changing suspects (I was eventually wrong).

The Murderous Type by Sue Minix the 2nd instalment in the "A Bookstore Mystery" series. What a great follow up to book one. I enjoyed this book and look forward to book 3.

I really enjoyed visiting Riddleton again and love the addition of Savanna the German shepherd puppy to the family at Ravenous Readers. I also like the budding romance between Jen and Eric…

It was entertaining, full of twists and turns and I did guess whodunnit but that did not distract from the story.

I recommend this series to all my cozy loving friends!

I requested and received an advanced readers copy from Harper Collins/Avon and NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my OWN.
