It's so funny - GoodReads told me I read this book in April 2010 (and I know I'd read it before then too) - which means this is the third time I'd read it. And this time I'm giving it 4 stars instead of the 3 stars I gave it last time! Sylvia Compson feels bad that she's neglected her family for over 50 years and decides she wants to find five quilts that her mother made. As she embarks on a journey to find them, the book travels back in time to her mother's childhood and married life - when she actually made the quilts. I love the mix of history and current times, and once again, the book is realistic with there not necessarily being a happy ending to Sylvia's quest.

The references to a serious flu, quarantine and wearing masks are timely.

Andrew's children need to grow up and shape up. There's still time; this is only book five.

Listening length 10 hr, 30 min

I enjoy this series, even though I don't know how to quilt. I enjoy the characters and usually there is some historical element to the books. This installment did not disappoint.

Continued the journey of quiltmaking, family and love with Sylvia as she sought her mother's masterpieces. Heartwrenching and nostalgic.

Great story. Terrifying description of the Spanish influenza impact on a small town. I liked the alternating presentation between Sylvia and her mother.
