3.6 AVERAGE

This is my second installment from the Mortal Enemies to Monster Lovers and while I didn't enjoy it as much as Slaying the Vampire Conqueror, I did find this one fun.

Zita is determined to take revenge on her sisters killer. When the said party shows up to one of her performances, she has her plan all in place. Of course, nothing goes the way it should be and Zita soon finds herself taken prisoner by the Prince. Yup, she believes Prince Sepher is responsible for her sisters death and she will stop at nothing until he is dead.

I really liked Zita upon meeting her. She was drowning in grief over losing her sister but I was 100% here for the revenge story. And that held strong in the beginning. Nothing Sepher could do would break Zita and was just like, go girl! And of course we would get the "he's sexy" internal dialogue, but that's to be expected. What I didn't expect was the 180 turnaround to suddenly them being in love. I just wish we would have seen it develop more. That being said, I wish we also got more of Sepher as a character. It was really hard to get a read on him because his entire character changed so quickly.

The mystery of the plot was a little predictable but I liked that this was the story where we got to see the most growth with the two characters. I just felt it was missing a little more of those moments where we knew they had to be together. And for as long as this book was, it's crazy those were missed.

A fun read. True enemies to lovers. Lots of spice involving power exchange and fae versions of k1nk practices - a definite dom / brat dynamic. The amount of humiliation is not really my thing but ymmv. 🌶️🌶️🌶️

I was surprised by a few plot points which doesn’t happen often, so that was fun.

No diverse representation to speak of.

Overall it was engaging. I laughed. I gasped. I blushed while reading in public. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Very spicy but it was annoyingly  repetitive there is about 380 pages that easily could be fit in no more than 150.

My god, how can something be so cruel and precious at the same time? I went into this book with little expectations other than knowing to read it after A Kiss of Iron and to say I’m pleasantly surprised is an understatement. Can’t way for more of these two in the Sabreverse 🖤
