I guess I’m in the minority here since it got so many stars in the reviews. I found it boring and I didn’t care for any of the characters. I didn’t find it at all interesting until more than halfway through and then it became telenovela like, not in the fun, entertaining way. It was slow and had so many POVs, with a handful of pages dedicated to the actual murder. There wasn’t anything thrilling about it. I just wanted to get through it and move on to the next book.

A wedding on a secluded island..sounds like a fantasy! The whole land left to you and your guests comes with beautiful beaches and foliage, along with old, empty buildings holding a mysterious history. But what dangers can this solitude bring? Let’s just say, the freedom of this island can bring out your inner demons. This book was fantastic. I loved following each and everyone’s journey to finding the answers they’ve been looking for. I do wish the author told us what truly happened to the original inhabitants of the island, though.

I got so bored. To be fair it may have been an issue with the narrator as I listened to the audiobook

Maybe I should just stop trying with thrillers. All of the ones I've read used the same couple of writing devices/tropes and I hate all of them.
I'm not really good at explaining what I mean because these things are more in the writing but I'll try.
Things almost every thriller does that suck
1) only insufferable and unlikeable are allowed to exist.... Why should I care for the story when I want to see all your lives get destroyed?
2) very crude (?) writing. I'm not really a prude but it is kinda weird just how much everybody is always thinking about sex, having sex, having a million plot lines related to sex (cheating, no sex in a relationship) all in quite jarring detail.... Just why
3) graphic animal death to set the atmosphere
4) we get to know somebody is the bad guy cause they a) abuse and kill an animal, b) assault somebody else (mostly sexual assault cause of course) or c) all of the above
5) a character has either an eating disorder or harms themselves which both will be described in graphic detail. Sometimes it's even both but it's somehow always the same mental illnesses.
Things I, in addition, didn't like about The Guest List
~it's was almost completely predictable
~the last chapter really isn't a good ending
