Darwyn Cooke art is always fucking gorgeous, so obviously this book was gonna be a delight to look at. The titular tale (or “tail” I guess ha ha) is a philosophical discussion between Bruce Wayne and his batsona who looks absolutely fucking dope as shit.
There’s a couple of brief adventure one-shots which are nice (one with Tim Sale art, and I’ll always buy that for a dollar), but the other big draw besides Ego is Selina’s Big Score – a gorgeous Catwoman train heist that I feel would have probably been best served scrubbed of some uhhhh projection issues. I mean LOL that Lee Marvin Mary Sue that is SUPER GOOD AT EVERYTHING and also Selina LURRRBS him – wudda catharsis that in the brief little one-shot “Déjà vu” he gets his ass kicked by Batman as a random bank robbery goon.

I pick this up about every week and go into a fugue state over the composition and linework. Not every story in this book is a 100% winner, but the title story and [book: Catwoman: Selina's Big Score] (which also exists as a standalone trade paperback) are just about as good as comics gets.

Darwyn Cooke's art speaks to me on many levels—the nostalgia, the gritty noir-esque elements and traditional painting techniques, so this is quite a good collection of his Batman work, albeit not very cohesive.
Standout stories are Selina's Big Score and Date Knight, not that I'm biased or anything, being a big Catwoman fan.

Cooke's art style makes for some of the prettiest comics I've ever read
