This is very misleading of what it’s about, the cover conveys it’s about these cool creatures but that’s not really what the story is about, they are only shown a few times. Most of the story is these sad memories. I wanted to read a wholesome story with nice drawings like the other one. I like the message of taking care of the sea but again the main story focuses on the adults and their sad memories? This looks like a cute wholesome graphic novel not just a sad story with a hopeful ending. I wanted to see more art since I really enjoyed the tea dragon society but I did not really enjoy this one. I still think the artist is very talented but I wish it would focus more on these cool creatures rather than the sad memories of the adults, it isn’t marketed well and if it’s for children then why isn’t it more just about the animals and being more light hearted. I don’t get why it focuses so much on the adults and their possibly budding romance which isn’t implied until the end, but I just don’t get why it’s focused so much on them. In the beginning it seems to be like the little girl is the main character, which also happens in The Tea Dragon Society by this author, but then in both of them the whole middle chunk is just about the adults memories which has nothing to do with the children. It just feels all over the place. And this is about taking care of the ocean yet there’s fishing in it?

I really love this book. It’s so heartwarming and I love the vibrant colour of the ocean and the village. It also teaches the reader to protect the creatures’ life under the ocean.
quick and fun reading!
