This graphic novel has a heart warming story with cute illustrations and an environmental message. It deals with so many important themes; loss, sustainable use of natural resources, different ways of being feminine and strong... All in a way a child can understand and relate with.
Light, lovely and powerful.
I would like to thank NetGalley and Oni Press for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I grabbed this at the library today, only knowing that it was by the same author as The Tea Dragon Society. I expected it to be sweet and lovely, but I didn’t expect it to be so touching, and hit so hard.
This is a story about magic yes, but fundamentally it’s a story about climate change. About overfishing, plastic pollution, and coral reefs. And it’s told in a simple, beautiful, and powerful way. It even has a few resources in the back.

I really loved this little book and it’s messages! I like that it made clear that usually fishers who damage the ocean have a deep, not unjustified fear of loosing their livelihood that stops them from taking care of reefs, but that doesn’t mean they can’t help! I wish this book was in Spanish too so people in my country could read it but in the meantime I will rave about it
