Let me start by saying the art for this was absolutely beautiful! You could spend hours admiring the wonderful artwork. I appreciated the message of the book (aka stop killing the freaking planet), but what I didn't like is how simple it felt. Now I know this is geared toward a middle grade audience, but characters seem underdeveloped, and I just wish I had been given a little more reason to care about them. Overall 3.5 stars

I adored this graphic novel. The art is absolutely beautiful, and the color scheme is warm and inviting. At first, it just seems like a sweet story about a girl who has lost her mother and is visiting her aunt on the island she grew up on. She finds a injured animal near the sea and starts to take care of it. However, this graphic novel talks a lot about the dying coral reefs and global warming in a way that is both informative without being preachy or condescending. It teaches children (and adults) how important our actions are, and that we cannot put our ease of life over the wellbeing of the entire planet.

In other words: BUY THIS.
