Galatea: A Short Story by Madeline Miller

Miller continues to be one of my favorite authors and has a way of creating fully developed and fleshed out characters out of hints of stories from the original Greek myths. Considering the lack of womens voices in the originals, her works have felt like the books I've been looking for since I first became obsessed with Greek mythology as a kid in grade school. Short and not sweet but poignant and powerful. Sneaks in at the last min to my top 5 read this year probably.

This was hauntingly beautiful. I gotta be honest, the only things i thought while reading this was 'huh' and 'ew'. It made my head hurt but it was interesting.
