I thought the idea of this world was extremely interesting and fascinating which made me compelled to read it. The idea of giving every 18 year old a "cure" so noone would make irrational choices was very interesting. I really was enjoying this book but i was dissapointed with how the first book ended. It seemed abrupt and unfinished with a cliffhanger.I really enjoyed the characters the storyline but the ending seemed abrupt and unfinished, regardless that this is the first novel in the trilogy.
This dystopian novel was set in Portland, Maine, in a fenced-in settlement (to keep everyone safe from the Wilds). As usual, the society is based upon fear and government propaganda. Like the Scott Westerfeld Uglies series, there is also a medical procedure when you hit the age of adulthood to transform you into the new and improved you, free from the irrationality of youth and the possibility of feeling the symptoms of the disease of love. The main character looks forward to it, until she doesn't.
I think I need to take a break from teenage dystopian futures.

The over all story was good. The language was stronger then I would have expected for a Y.A. Novel.

Great book! I just loved the characters. The world-buidling is awesome, it just has such a good concept. I think I never really read anything like it. I highly enjoyed reading about this world, but at times in the novel it could make me a bit sad. I believe this is a great start of the series. This story is just so cool.
BUT THAT ENDING. OMG. THE FEELINGS. THE HURT. EVERYTHING. AAAAUHRG.
Need the next book after reading this one. Like, need it right now.
