This book up to the point I read is a summary of what people like me believe and a history of what brought us here. Maybe the author goes off the rails later, but up to page 4x it's pretty good. Unfortunately I read to experience new and intriguing ideas, not rehash ones I'm familiar with. Perhaps the author makes great points later that would be new to me, but eh...
The biggest flaw of the book is that the author does not present her points in a way that I would call gentle. It's almost self satisfied and smug. Honestly that can be okay when you're speaking to your audience, but when you're speaking outside of your audience it comes as speaking down to them. So if people like me already know this stuff and agree, and she wants to educate others, I just don't know who this book is for or who I would recommend it to. The prose and writing style would make it a very bad pick for most people. It's not entry level stuff either despite being so back to basics.
Still, I didn't hate it.
