Is this the best the I’ve ever read? Not really. Will I be finishing it as they publish 6 more volumes in English? Yeah definitely.

There’s a lot that holds this story back. However unlike other dark stories people recommend, 2ha seems to be pretty earnest. It also has some interesting ideas, the setting and characters stand out from the (needlessly) dark content. It’s definitely a story that would be better thematically if some of the content was condensed, but I also can see why people like it as it is and how my preferences would kinda betray why people like it in the first place.

It’s also really interesting to me that, for what I feel holds this back from being a better story, there’s A LOT to like here. In this book specifically Mo Ran and Chu Wanning have so many sweet moments. Like even if this isn’t my person favorite story ever the good REALLY outweighs the questionable.

Opinions may change when I finish it, but overall it’s alright. A bit dark for my tastes.
