Altogether the story was quite sweet and the smexy scene was good, but the trouble with short stories is that they tend to seem more like the draft of a longer story that has yet to come.
It was a bit irritating that Daren, after having been in love with his best friend for such a long time, doesn't really listen to him when Taylor tells him his past, although he seems to care deeply for him. Sure, it's distracting when your crush sits half naked just a few meters away from you, but now Daren appeaes as if he's only interested in Taylor's body.

There was something about this that made it difficult for me to connect to the characters and really get into the story. I think part of it was that there was just so much going on between the four characters and cross-relationships and secret sexualities and unspoken lust and it was all very complicated for a story of this length (though I recognize that probably is the inspiration for the title).
But I do see how some people could find this to be a sweet and fulfilling m/m romance so if you're a sucker for the friends-to-lovers trope, this one might be an enjoyable read for you.

I realize this was a short story, but it went way too fast. I, like another reviewer I read, did a lot of eye-rolling. I guess that's what you get for free.

God, what a hot and wonderful story! However, I really hope for a sequel with Darren and Taylor having a threesome with Stone.
