LOVED THIS BOOK. Like this is how you write romance based on love. Like I truly genuinely believed they were falling in love. The mmc is 42 and the fmc is 33 and it was such a great representation of mature love. Like it was actually about romantic love not limerence. Each character was well fleshed out and loveable in their own right. But she really outdid herself with Aurora (fmc). Like she is one of the strongest and most likeable characters I’ve read in a while. No notes.

Cute, at first I though Rhodes was responsible for her mom being a missing person because he was so creepy, but turns out he’s just a grumpy meets sunshine type.

I think this is a 4 for most of the book, but the end was sooooo drawn out, making me want to rate lower, but 3.75 is appropriate for me. Realistically, there were two threads that could've been dropped and still told a wonderful story. But man, I listened to the audiobook (great narrator btw), and those last few chapters had me asking "how much longer is this book???" Anyway. Lovely characters and some slow burn. No real surprises, but enjoyable nonetheless.
2022 Updates: I apologize for being so late to acknowledge this, but Mariana Zapata, a talented contemporary romance author who I recommended to many, simply isn't it.
She has used her novels to make: Transphobic comments, ableist comments, racist comments, fat jokes, and jokes about sexual harassment. She also blocks anyone on social media who asks her to address them, and I can't support an author who does so. In a world full of tremendously talented writers, I would encourage you to look elsewhere for great contemporary romance.
