It seemed so similar to other small town romances I’ve read lately. I don’t love the single dad trope as I feel like it romanticizes it too much but I feel like this book did it right! I did enjoy the unique mystery plot in this book and it made me want to travel .

Challenge to Mariana Zapata: Try to write a whole book without using bathroom humor or talking about bodily function every fucking chapter. I’m sick of it. It’s not funny or ~quirky~.

This was a fine read, despite the annoying bathroom humor. The beginning and the end really dragged. Plot-wise, not a whole lot happened, especially with that boring “climax” near the middle/end mark. Also, this book could have been 100+ pages shorter and it would have gotten to the same conclusion at the end.

I received this book as a Goodreads giveaway and I’m so happy that I did because I have really enjoyed other books I’ve read by Mariana Zapata.

This one did not disappoint!! In addition to a trademark slow burn romance, Zapata deals with some riveting side narratives including grief, found family, learning about yourself, and many more.

Though a lengthy read, I was hooked the whole way through and I can’t wait to read more of her books!
