Good but a little bit too long. I don't mean the slow burn, just in general. A few too many "and then..." add ons.

I really enjoyed this! My first Marianna Zapata read, and I had a great time. I loved all of the characters and the setting, especially the emphasis on the outdoors. It was quite long, and I didn’t really understand why the ending “conflict” was even really a conflict, but this made me feel all the feels, and I throughly enjoyed it. 10/10 would recommend!

Super enjoyable, loved rhodes and Aurora together, however, in the end, i got a bit pissed of but the constant crying and just affirmations and her thought how like she was. It was repeated like 20 times in each chapter!!! But i loved the setting😂 and Am, the teenager

Incredibly sweet story of love perservering and healing old wounds through grief, loneliness, and shame - loveddd Rhodes and aurora's relationship and the way that you could truly root for them and see the ways they loved each other so fully
4.5 ⭐️
“I found a place where I belong,
A place with love that feels like home again.”
~ i thought this was gonna take me a while, BUT I FLEW TROUGH IT. this is such a bittersweet story, absolutely adore a good small town romance.

I’ve now read three Mariana Zapata books and loved them all! They’re so slow burn but I love every second of it! I listened to most of this as an audiobook and the last chapters as an ebook and the narrators did such a good job and I loved that the conversations were with both narrators and not just the female narrator making her voice lower and the other way around if that makes sense?
Its just such a beautifully done slow burn romance with great plot and amazing characters dealing with love, loss, grief and moving on<3
Tobias Rhodes a single dad that I love - he’s so grumpy but such a softie inside and can be so protective and possessive, and Aurora was so easy to love she’s so strong, compassionate and funny and a perfect sunshine type of character, she’s just genuinely a good person and I love her. Love her for knowing her worth.
I also love that there’s no third act breakup AND no miscommunication!
Tropes; slow burn, age gap, single dad, grumpy sunshine, small town

Ok so this is a 2.5 rating.
This book took me way too long to finish, considering how fluffy and easy it was. Every summary, review or description I saw of this book was more compelling and intriguing than the actual experience of reading it. Honestly, at some point, I thought I had confused it with another book that was very similar and began this accidentally. It's not like I'd say this was a BAD book, not at all - it was just so meandering and flat.
That may be a subjective take, but I digress.
I feel it worth noting that I've read many books that fall into categories that may not be considered edgy, gritty or spicy, yet they were done in a way that still managed to feel compelling or exciting.
This book felt like it was initially shorter, but the author was told to add more to it, she complied, but her characters unfortunately didn't have a whole lot left to say. The result was a lot of recycled phrasing, words and seemingly pointless scenes and interactions, even though it was clear where the story was going without the added "filler".
Not a terrible book, but nowhere near as great as I was led to believe.
