Not at all what I expected but in a great way. Yes, this is considered a romance, but the way their relationship built throughout the book was like nothing else I’ve ever read. I loved all the detail in the trail hikes she took. It kind of gave off Wild by Cheryl Strayed vibes in some parts with the hiking and Aurora trying to find herself again after her divorce. All in all, a great read.

It’s official, Mariana Zapata is now one of my favorite authors.
This book made me feel giddy…like your first crush returns your feelings, puppy love, giddy. I adored the grump-sunshine trope in this book and watching as Aurora slowly rebuilds the pieces of her life and her heart. Rhodes and Amos stole my heart and this entire book was just lovely overall. Zapata is seriously the queen of the slow burn romance and her character development and relationship building is just top-notch. I think this book also handles the topics of grief and loss very well. I absolutely recommend picking up this book (and any of Zapata’s work for that matter). Even if you aren’t a big romance reader, Zapata’s writing could easily sway that.
