I wasn’t sure what to expect of this book, but it drew me in from the start. And kept me hooked right until the very end.
The book follows Frankie, who has just lost everything, his girlfriend and business to his ex-business partner. He has become a regular loner in his local pub when the barman, Ambrose, tells him that he needs to make a change in his life. He sets Frankie a challenge, he is going to change his life within a week by using Twitter. Ambrose’s challenge is simple, on the next multiple of 5 for the time, Frankie is to open up Twitter and one of the next 5 tweets on his newsfeed will lead him to do something to change his life.
Within a week, Frankie has a new purpose in his life, he has started up a new business and has found himself a new social circle to help him navigate his way through life. It was extremely entertaining seeing what ideas Frankie and the gang would come up with next.
There were a few twists that I knew would be coming, but not what specifically was going to happen. So although I knew something would go wrong, it wasn’t necessarily what I guessed. Then, just as I thought things were going well again, something else would go wrong. Because of these twists, I think that’s what kept me so entertained and unwilling to put the book down sometimes.
I’ll be interested to know if the sequel lives up to this one; and if it’s based on the same characters or whole new characters.
