Binged this in less than 24 hours. The audio was excellent. Allen Eskens is an author that I will always read.

This was a frustrating read. The main character is a dickhead. I’m sorry, I can’t even articulate how much he annoyed me. Everything he did, everything he said, all of his internal monologues just irritated me.

I get it, not everybody is affectionate or loving, but this guy was just damn cold. To everybody. How he ended up married and with a friend who loved him enough to leave him their kid is a genuine mystery to me.

So he’s the main guy, we’re supposed to be on his side, but I wasn’t. I wanted him to lose the kid, the wife and the case

Boady was my least favorite of the main characters in Allen Eskens universe, but this book made him much more likeable, real human.
Am I the only one that thought the dying message “Elijah” was originally “Lilith” because these two names are similar in the spelling? I may have been just overthinking but if it was on purpose for some misleading, the author is really a genius.
