Dragons, castles, magical talents, shifters, talking trees, wicked evil villains, and a love story. What’s not to love ? It was a fun read, a hard to put down storyline and there was a very sexy mysterious Woodsman. It was the perfect book to save me from watching “the big football game” LOL
Sorcha, is a princess with an attitude. She’s part of an extended family of women raised in an orphanage. She is not one to be quiet and sip her tea while the men plan, no she will get into it. I like her :D
The villains were so vile ! Seriously it was easy to hate them and wish terrible things happen to them. There is a mother, a winner of the worst mother award fro sure. The things she does ! She’s not bright, or terribly beautiful just cutthroat to the bone. Another one that just made my blood boil with a sniveling privileged man/boy who thought he was owed. I may have cheered loudly as a few of them fell.
I hadn’t read any of the Embraced Books that this series came from and was a bit lost in the beginning but quickly figured out the little details and how they fit together. The snippet for the next book at the end sounds really good. I’ll be reading it for sure.

Ms Sparks delivers with the fourth installment of this series. As we've come to expect from the series, there is sizzling romance, political intrigue and sparkling humour. In this one, it's Sorcha's turn to see how the future predicted by the Telling Stones turns out - in the elves' country Woodwyn. There are a few predictable twists (the Chameleon is involved, of course) and some unexpected ones. The Woodsman's Embraced powers were also something I haven't encountered before.

Overall, a good read. My only gripe is that it wasn't longer, although this is possibly because of the change in publisher mid-series. I also felt that more could have been made of Sorcha's fire powers, and that the level of character and worldbuilding detail could have been increased, as it was in the other books (again, the change of publisher may be to blame here).

I loved the first book, but every book in the series feels VERY similar and I’m sick of the formula at this point

I usually love Kerrelyn Sparks books, but I couldn't get into this book. I found if difficult to get into and follow. I found myself having to reread parts before going on to the next chapter. It usually only takes me a day or two to read a book but not this time.

LOVED! I loved Sorcha and the Woodsman. It did seem to follow a similar plot as So I Married a Sorcerer, but I'm not mad at it. I'm closer to knowing who the Circle of Five is. I'm invested in Brody's new mission. I can't wait to read the next one. I cannot get enough of this series!

How To Love Your Elf is the fourth book in The Embraced Series, and follows the story of Sorcha finding her destined love in the kingdom of Woodwyn.

This book has been on my mind since it was released and I'm really glad that we found each other >.<

The previous three books in the series were an absolute delight and I'm reluctant to finish it off by reading Maeve's story next.
Guess I'll try to hold onto my urges and pick up the last book later on.

4 they might go up in flames stars!!

Going into this book I had no idea it was the fourth book in a series, and it didn’t matter. I went straight off the blurb and based off the fact that I liked this author. I was interested to see how the “embraced” handled their abilities and how this book differed from other paranormal books. This book was kind of like a robin hood retelling but with elves and magical creatures.

I really like strong female protagonist in books and Sorcha was a strong character but at times made me a little angry because she acted a little dumb. I’m not sure if it was because she was hidden away and sheltered or because she really didn’t know, maybe if I read the books before I would’ve had a little more insight on that point. Her spitfire though earns her a rescue from the Woodsman and she fights him on the rescue so that made me like her from the beginning. Sorcha automatically fights for the little person and helps people in need on the way. It was interesting to see her evolve from disliking every Elf in the country side to only the evil ones, because she met the peaceful kind ones along the way.

The Woodsman, you just know from the beginning there is more than meets the eye with him. Slowly throughout the book you start to unravel it, but his mysterious ways are half the fun. I enjoyed his embraced gift more than others mostly because the forest could talk to him, then when all is revealed about the forest it is deeply touching. The fact that he normally has a calm attitude and Sorcha seems to bring out the crazy in him was kind of funny, he would just stutter and stand there. He is trying to save his country one village at a time, he tells everyone not to fight back that he will bring back everything that was stolen. Basically, he is an elf robin hood, once the evil elves ransack villages he steals from them and returns everything. He was a really great overall character and I would love to read more about him.

Sorcha brushed the petals of her long braid of hair. “A bunch of grateful women gave the flowers to Aleksi. They’re with child now.” “You dog.”

“What?” Alesksi’s face turned red. “I didn’t …” Gwennore laughed. “The tonic worked, Silas. Women are getting pregnant,” “By their husbands,” Aleksi added, and Dimitri snorted. “That is good news,” Silas said and Sorcha wondered why his trained smile didn’t reach his eyes.
