OK... Easy to read but the main character was lacking. I hate it when everyone is constantly telling the main character that she is tough and smart- even when first meeting her or when she makes terrible choices.
Overall though I would read the second one.

Amazing series
I really love this series. Kit is an incredible heroine because she always does what she thinks is right no matter the cost - and you as the reader know how much it costs her - and she never gives up. I love the world building, the mysteries and plots are great, and there's just the right amount of romance and passion. There are some editing problems but nothing too often.

WOW i was not expecting such mixed reviews in this!! Blade Song to me was a pleasant read with a fun plot and endearing side characters. I will say the pacing was a bit unbalanced at times, and there were a few times that I had to reread a page to figure out what was going on, but I also am looking forward to reading the next one!

First, lemme get this off my chest:
Jude in 3 words: slimeball, slimeball, slimeball...
Phew. Got that out.
While I really liked it, I didn’t love it or enjoy it as much as I'd hoped. There were some moments where I thought the heroine could’ve done better than that ( )considering she was trained to kill since she could.. well, carry a sword. Kick-ass, sure, she's also snarky, which I love. While I loved the banter between Damon and Kit, it kind of annoyed me that it just didn't seem to end, most of the time it went like: I hate you, I hate you too, you can't tell me what to do, yes I can, You're mine, no I'm not, We have something, no we do not.... It was like a damn cycle. Drove me crazy.
I get it that there's irritation and initial, um, dislike, but they didn't have to argue every time. It's like they have to go out of their way to piss each other off. The beauty with Kate and Curran/Mac and Barrons and the like is that although they have fights, we the readers more or less know already how much they drive each other nuts, so every time they have a fight/argument scene, it's almost as delicious and special as a sex scene. Almost. Heh.
BUT I liked the heroine's dark past, it made her a much more complex character.
I loved that there was a HEA and it was a badass HEA. No cliffies, so double yay. :D It was a satisfying one where the bad guys get grilled, hero and heroine get together. It kind of makes me excited for the later books, because now there's room for twists and character developments in the later books.

and perhaps, you know, not practically offer her wrist to the damn vampire..She wasn't even the least bit suspicious..I get it that there's irritation and initial, um, dislike, but they didn't have to argue every time. But I still hate the slimeball. He should've been butchered too. Too bad. Well, he could die in the next book, I suppose..hmm..
Ick. Damon was an ass and Kit was a pathetic excuse of a fighter and just all around pathetic for getting with Damon after the way he treated her.
I liked the book, however too much was borrowed from Patricia Briggs' Mercy Thompson & Ilona Andrews' Kate Daniels.
I loved, loved, loved this book. It's been a long time since I've read a book by a new (to me) author that had me not wanting to put it down. I was literally walking around my flat reading my kindle because I didn't want to even put it down for the short trip from one room to another - and it's very short, I live in a tiny flat.
The sexual tension between Damon and Kit killed me from the very beginning, I just wanted them to get to it already but the teasing and play was extremely well written and, as much as I wanted them to get down the nitty-gritty, I really enjoyed the lead up. J.C. Daniels is a pen name for Shiloh Walker who I have heard of but never read, based on this book I think I shall give her alter ego a quick peruse to see if she has the same writing style.
Highly recommend this book, really can't wait to read the next one.
Spoiler
Kit gets hired by the cat alpha to find her runaway nephew - she seems to know Kit's soft spot is kids. Unfortunately (for her, not for us) she has to take along Damon, the Alpha's enforcer. They discover other kids from other races have gone missing and Kit comes to realise they are being rounded up and hunted. So there's a fallout and a confrontation when she realises who is behind it.The sexual tension between Damon and Kit killed me from the very beginning, I just wanted them to get to it already but the teasing and play was extremely well written and, as much as I wanted them to get down the nitty-gritty, I really enjoyed the lead up. ugh idk how to feel about this because the main ship felt very iffy to me but aside from that i was fairly into the plot
i'm gonna leave this one unrated for now until perhaps a re-read

I tried. I got through the first chapter and I just couldn't.
