I think this is probably my favorite Lauren Groff book, surprisingly; I didn't expect to connect with the setting and characters so much. I found it to be a lovely historical fiction novel that has a lot to say about femininity, religion, community, and making your place in a world that seems stacked against you.

Not really for me - I don’t think I get on with this detached writing style as I’ve had the same experience with a few other similar books recently. Listened on audiobook and was constantly zoning out, just about keeping up with the plot. Probably would enjoy discussing/studying it from a literary perspective more than I did just experiencing it as a story.
