At first I was trying to figure out why someone wasn't knocking Chelsea unconscious. Then I remember that this is Tate POV.

I'm going to start this review by saying that Tate and Savannah frustrate me beyond belief! Truth be told I kinda love it but it doesn't make it any less frustrating. These two are a train wreck of emotions sometimes but watching them find their path in life together is so much fun. Sometimes it's agonizing fun but overall, it's still fun.
Breathless is told from Tate's point of view which is kind of intense and sometimes insane but it totally works. Tate went from resident womanizing, bad boy to loyal boyfriend and daddy-to-be almost overnight in Just Breathe, leading to some pretty turbulent emotions for him. I was nervous about how he was going to take Sav's sudden (but somewhat brief) departure so I was a bit nervous to read what was in store for him. I wasn't disappointed. Tate and Sav, albeit slowly, are learning about each other and themselves while they somewhat flounder around in their blooming relationship. It isn't without many bumps and roadblocks popping up all over the place, either. Between an unexpected pregnancy, crazy exes, and a whole lot of stubborn thrown around, Breathless was full of all kinds of drama.
I enjoyed seeing Tate's perspective, especially what he thought of Savannah and their relationship. I especially found it endearing that he referred to their baby as "JellyBean". I was also glad we didn't lose any of my favorite secondary characters. Yes, Tanzi, Jack, and Mr. Davenport were along for the ride. Tate is learning to grow up and face his past and I'm excited to see what happens in the next installment of this series. Especially after such a rough ending! (I'm looking at you, Rachel) Anyways, Breathless was packed with a punch and Rachel Brookes definitely delivered with that title...this book literally left me breathless.

After reading Rachel Brookes' debut novel Just Breathe, it's safe to say I was hit by the Tate Connors Effect pretty hard, and I was absolutely desperate to get my hands on anything more that this new author had to give this series. So when I found out that Tate was getting his own novella - a short book that was entirely from his POV, there was flailing!
So, Just Breathe ended with Sav going to New York for a month to work, and that's where Breathless picks up. Tate isn't too happy about this current turn of events and so he does something about it. With only his wallet and his passport, he boards a plane to go and see the woman that stole his heart.
I love big, romantic gestures like that and I wish that I could tell you that everything was sunshine and roses, but as nice as Rachel Brookes is in real life, she's evil in her books. Evil to her characters and evil to her readers but you don't find out exactly how evil she is until end, by which point I was practically pulling my hair out shouting WHY???
But because I'm obviously a little strange, I love evil authors. LOVE them. Being gripped to a story and constantly wondering where their twisted mind will take me next fills me with excitement and dread which is a heedy mix.
And can anyone say SWOOOOON?? I love me some Tate Connors. He didn't have quite the same effect on me as he did in Just Breathe, for some reason, but I still loved him and just seeing how much he loves Sav, could melt the heart of an ice queen.
After an ending that had me wanting to shake the author and a few of the characters, I am once again left desperate for another dose of this fab series from the very talented Rachel Brookes. I'm unsure of the expected release date of Breathe Again, but I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that it's not too long. 4 stars for Breathless.

If I could give this more stars I would. I love Tate Connors and my heart broke for him in this book. But getting in his head had definitely made me fall for him even more.
There's a couple of people who I'd love to strangle and that's being nice. Haha. I really hope they get their just deserts in the next instalment.
And hope Sav and Tate get their happy ever after. They belong to each other.
