I did not like Paige very much in the previous books, so this ended up sitting on my shelf for over a year. She was annoying me in the first half of the book. But I liked the plot and the action picked up nicely in the second half, so I tried to ignore her more stupid personality traits. The book ended up being fun.
I have read both previous books some time ago and as much as I liked [b:Bitten|11918|Bitten (Otherworld #1)|Kelley Armstrong|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1306101770s/11918.jpg|2606334], I wasn't that impressed with [b:Stolen|11922|Stolen (Otherworld #2)|Kelley Armstrong|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1300923278s/11922.jpg|14289]. When I noticed that the third book is not about Elena and Clay (who I like a lot), I was disappointed. Especially, that I knew nearly nothing about Paige and wasn't really interested in her story. But I decided to give it a chance.
The beginning of the story was rather slow, I wasn't really in the mood and I couldn't get into it. I put it at back for about two months, then come back to it and wow! I have finished it in a day and a half and only because I had to sleep and had some work to do. The story is fast and grabbing.
In the beginning I wasn't sure about Paige but after a while I liked her. She is definitely a strong and independent heroine. And Lucas makes a good paring for her. It's good he is not another alpha man and he is so different from Clay. I also liked the romance part, though I'm not sure if I saw it coming. I mean of course I knew about it but nothing indicates it. Still, it fills nice with the story.
Savannah on the other hand... Oh, what a spoilt brat she is! I know she is thirteen but sometimes she acts like a child, a toddler even.Like when she decides to join the Cabal and for Paige to stay with her. It's cruel I know but I believe Paige should left her that moment, just to show this little moron that she can't eat a cake and have a cake. And it hasn't come to her mind to actually ask Paige what she wants to do, she takes everything for granted. Everything has to be like she wants. She believes she is the clever one. I know she acts like most of the teens but she was driving me mad sometimes.
Now I'm really curious what will happen in the next book with Paige and Lucas. Though I would like to see some Elena and Clay, too.

I was wary at first, since Armstrong switched narrators for this installment of the Women of the Otherworld series, but Paige Winterbourne turned out to be just as compelling as Elena, the narrator of the first two novels. With this one, Armstrong introduces witches and sorcerers, delving into the differences between their individual types of magic while introducing and developing a whole new group of characters, some who had been secondary or tertiary to the plot thus far in the series, and some that are new altogether -- and of course, as Armstrong has proven herself to do, she does it all with a kickass plot and a great sense of style. She is quickly becoming one of my very favorite authors.
I would probably give this 3 1/2 stars. It was really hard to get into this book, but once I got about 1/3 into it, I couldn't put it down. It was a pretty good read from that point on and I have to say Kelley redeemed herself and went back to her great writing. I can't wait to read the rest of the series. I loved the interaction between Lucas, Paige and Savannah. I can't wait to see what happens next!!

I really like the way Kelley Armstrong links her books and develops her characters across books, while still being a strong enough writer that each book also stands fully on its own even if you don't read the others (but, really why WOULDN'T you read the others?!).
In this case, the book Industrial Magic, which continues Paige's story, allows her to become more of the kick-butt witch, so she really evolves from this first outing, and let's be fair to the character - given Paige's history and what she went through, its hardly fair to compare her to Elena.
I like my characters with a few flaws and weaknesses, especially when they live in such a weird world as Kelley Armstrong's characters do because it makes them more human to me and I can really relate to them and care about what happens to them.

I wasn't sure what I would think of this book, since the Elena/werewolf angle was what originally drew me in to the series... but I found myself drawn into Paige's story as well. Lucas Cortez is a welcome new character to the mix. While I didn't like this book as much as the second book in the series, it was still very enjoyable and I look forward to continuing the series.
Not as good as the first two books, wasn't expecting a lot but it definitely picked up a lot at the end. Love the series.
I was hooked right from the begining. This is a great, thrilling, easy read. Very vivid and colorful writting. Loved the herion Paige. Though at times her self doubt got in the way of the story. I couldn't fully understand how she was the Leader of the American Coven but seem so weak as a witch at times. But I suppose it was explained through the fact she inherited the role after her mothers death. Either way I really enjoyed reading this book. Kelley Armstrong is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors! Can't wait to read the next one!
I read this over a decade ago and since I remember loving it I decided to go back a reread it. Unfortunately I remembered nothing about, haha. Now that I'm older, I view Paige much differently than I did when I was younger. I kept waiting for her to have her moment when she rage out and take command of what was happening around her. But it just never happened. She just keeps getting dumped on by everyone around her and she kind of just accepts it. Especially with Savanah, I was really hoping she'd slap some sense into her. I feel at the very least she should have been teaching her self control with her magic. Hoping in the next one she grows stronger in confidence.
