What do you get when you mix time travel, dinosaurs, and a murder together in a luxury hotel? You get Rob Hart's newest novel, The Paradox Hotel. There's a dead body that only January can see. She's on the brink of madness and it's getting worse by the day - time travel will mess you up! But she can't walk away because those past glimpses of the love of her life are a drug she just can't quit. Can she solve the murder and save our timeline from destruction before she goes totally crazy? I originally picked this book up because one of my all-time favorite authors, Erin Morgenstern, recommended it here on Insta. And I was not disappointed!
This was the first of Rob Hart's books I've read, although I'd heard rave reviews of his other work, and I have to say - this was not only a page-turner, but it was really unlike anything else I've ever read. It's fast-paced and snarky, cerebral but heartfelt, and a little out there. Things I loved - diverse cast of characters, science that made your brain hurt just a little, good character development, and the quirkiness of it all. Things I'd warn you about - there are a couple content warnings, including death of a loved one, fire, murder, and parental neglect. If those things are triggers for you, approach with caution. Otherwise, I highly recommend this for any of my fellow book nerds! It was a wild ride and I'm officially adding Rob Hart's previous book to my to be read pile.
