Coraline is about a young girl that moves into a new home with her parents. In the home is a locked door that leads to nothing. As Coraline is exploring she discovers that there is an opening into an apartment that looks exactly like hers. In that apartment is a woman that looks exactly like her mother. This Other-Mother wants Coraline to live with her, but Coraline just wants her life to go back to normal.

Coraline is less scary than I thought it would be, but way more unsettling. I read it in the middle of the day, so I'll assume if you read it at night the fear factor increases. Despite that this book is still great. Good horror novels for kids and young teens are hard to come by I think. This one is amazing. The interactions between Coraline and other Mother are tense. The last portion of the book with the hand was so suspenseful that I struck in place and couldn't move till it was over. 10/10 would read again.
