Sigh....

Wondering why did I break my one rule. Don’t read a series until it’s complete. Just so I can not feel like this. December!!! This is too many books 6! Can we just get to the climax. I’m just so annoyed. I’ll have to come back and right a review when I get over my feelings.

Love me some Shadow

This book was over way to quickly. I tried to savor it but that freaking didn't happen. My innocent Shadow( my favorite from the beginning), I can't wait to read more on their relationship! Also the ending! Who is going to have to die? This makes me nervous! I'm so ready for the next book! Also can get some love for the Sons of Odin?

This book frustrated me. We got almost no plot progression in fact, it seems like we are just dancing around the main plot. The beginning of this book was basically filler that didn’t really make much sense and just felt like it was stalling. The middle was great and action packed! Then the ending was heart wrenching and made you curious. I just feel like the great subplot that popped up and ended in this book was beating around the bush for the main plot.

I would really love this series more if it was more straightforward with the plot, but it dances around to a bunch of different ones and then they all just get jumbled in my head. The subplot that took place in this book was so phenomenal though! It was fast paced and nail biting! I just wish we got a bit more description in some places, though.

So I do need to confess something here, I opened the next book and was met with a rather large trigger warning. I was surprised, but prepared to endure the torture. However, I thought about it and was kind of nervous. Honestly, I’m not in the best headspace right now so I’m not sure that I can handle some extremely dark things right now. Unfortunately I have decided to step away from this series, but only temporarily. I will be back later to finish this series and hopefully can be more prepared for the triggers.

I do recommend this book if you plan on finishing the series, because there is a tad bit of plot to it and some subplot that might not make as much sense without the background. The issues I had with this book are not the cause for me stepping away for a short period of time, but they did frustrate me a bit. Hopefully it will get better from here! I promise I will be back to finish this series.

Finally .........

Its no secret I am a fan of this series,Crystal Ash is the Queen of SDMC and writes with such a passion for the storyline its palpable throughout each page.

Continuing on with Mari and her men this story is a little slower paced then the previous 4 but I understand why, it was important for Shadow to grow and Helpless is where it happens.

Shadows past really is troublesome and to find that it also happened to Grudge, they truly both deserve happiness, Mari sees Shadow on a deeper level, she looks beyond his scars with understanding and she sees the man he is meant to be.

Crystal really captured the essence of emotion when she writes about her characters feelings, we felt it with all the men and we are feeling it with Shadow although I truly feel this is only the beginning and things are going to get so much deeper with him. There is so much history to unearth and I can only imagine the challenge and the need to break that up into sections, as has been done so far, as to have it all at once would be too much of an overload . I really like shadow as a character and I am sure building a love for his character was intentional on Crystals side so the more of the darkness she reveals the more we build a hatred to anything that gets done to him but I have a tugging in my gut that what you will read or have read in the epilogue if you have already read it will be against Shadow.

I love shadow omg
