This book was a work of art. It took me about a third of the way through to kinda understand what was happening but I was thoroughly hooked. This book both broke my heart and enraged me.

Very weird and original book. I don’t think I’ve ever encountered worldbuilding quite like this. I also really like the trope of a ghostly narrator who is limited in how they can interact with the world and this book had some new ideas with that. Parts of it definitely felt a bit clunky to me - the insta-love romance plotline didn’t quite work and the metaphor of Gus’s whole thing felt VERY on the nose and a bit too clearly articulated in-universe - but I was still thoroughly interested and entertained by this book. Lots of creatively nasty scenes and also lots of emotional reflections on life and love and selfishness.

The fact that the ghost was screaming constantly made me want to scream.

Also, to have so many short chapters, I was just already so bored. The messages were so clear before even a quarter of the way through that I didn’t care to see it through to the end.

*DNF*

I’m so sad about DNF’ing this book. The cover is initially what drew me in, it is perfection. Then I read the premise and I was sold. A main character who is murdered and then hangs around as a ghost… yes please!
Unfortunately, Projections did not do it for me. I first DNF’d it on page 64. I was so bored and nothing was happening. Then I gave it a few days because I really wanted to love it. I got to page 180 and that was it I was done. I just couldn’t do it anymore. The his book was honestly so boring. Nothing happens. It has dual POVs but they all surround the character Gus or Angus. But then the more I read I didn’t know if that’s the same person or a different person because sometimes I feel like Gus was talking to Angie but then I thought that was himself so I was very confused what was happening. Also there were too many characters that all blended together.
I would not recommend this book. If anyone reads it and gets to the end I do want to know what happens but not enough to suffer through reading it.
