Silly scheme

As a member of a book club for over 10 years, I HAD to read this book! I loved the characters, as they were all colorful and sassy. While I don’t condone the use of illicit drugs, this was an entertaining, frivolous, and surprisingly GOODREAD! Beach or vacation read for sure.

I blew through this book in 24 hours and don't regret a moment of it. The author did a great job at bringing the main characters to life. She made something that could have also been written as a depressing book, something witty and funny. Through the whole book, you know that what they're doing is wrong, but you can't help but root for the ladies and want them to get every penny they can. The ending was also superbly fitting. Yes, the book is a bit outlandish, but it doesn't promise to be something deeply thought provoking and accurate. It promises to be a fun read, and it truly delivers on that. Have to go find some other books by this author now!

What do we learn from this book?
Crime DOES pay off.

Quick fun read!

I finished this book on a plane in 6hrs today! Brainless, fun, summer read with an interesting plot. Summer book club anyone?

The perfect light beach read. I read this as a palate cleanser between several really intense books about crime/death and it was great. I actually laughed out loud at several points and found myself relating to several of the characters even though I'm nowhere near in the same situations as them. The plot is at times unbelievable, but is mostly a fast-paced delight. The characters are complex and even the secondary characters are interesting. The ending was a little too perfect, but still good. I'm impressed this was a debut novel.

4/5

This book made me love and appreciate my book club gals all the more! A quick read involving a scam of a La Jolla catty and swanky book club of rich bitches. Thought the premise was funny and liked the little book blurbs references before each chapter. A little bit Big Little Lies and made me visualize my recent SoCA trip.

If you're in the market for an easy, delightful read with minimal romcom fluff and lots of best friend power, this is your book! It moved quickly with short chapters and a diverse range of characters. Some of them are detestable, some are lovable. I'm glad I snagged it from the library!

I got this as a Kindle First selection. It was readable and I enjoyed the journey, but I'm not sure I really liked it. The book club connection was VERY slim. I did enjoy the little asides at the beginning of each chapter referring to books. But this book wasn't about a book club at ALL. The premise was ridiculous and the conclusion was even more so.

This book was such a pleasant surprise. It is very witty and hilarious.
