This was not my cup of tea. I honestly thought about not finishing this book several times as I just couldn't get caught up in the characters or the story. It wasn't until one of the characters, Natalie, took the face cream to be tested that I started getting a little interested in it as I wanted to see how the story would end up playing out. But that was near the end of the book. Several reviews indicate this is a quick, fun read....but it did not feel that way to me.

This was a free download for me and it was pretty interesting. I think it was hard to pick a side for justice. In the end I figured how it all would play out but I think it was fun to see how the rich lived and how they could be tricked.

Fun and witty

This is a fun and witty book. I loved the story line. How far is too far when our children need more than we can provide? It was reminiscent of Weeds in some ways. I loved the start of each chapter referring to other books and how they tied in with the characters.

Summertime quickie review:

This was our book club pick for July and it didn't really interest me that much. The story got to be a little off its rocker and while the plot was somewhat interesting, it just didn't grab me. I did find some of the overwhelmed stay-at-home-mom stuff to be quite relevant to me, but otherwise the book just didn't have the power to suck me in. I'd consider it light, fluffy fiction.

A fun light read. I definitely recommend if you're looking for something easy and light to read.

Far fetched but funny!

4.5, listened to audiobook.

This book felt like it could easily be turned into a movie staring Cameron Diaz or a made-for-TV movie on Lifetime or Hallmark or Disney Family. It was cute and wholesome (despite the whole putting cocaine into face cream thing!). Mom of three, Annie, finds out that her son will need some additional - very expensive - therapy. Meanwhile, her friend Sarah is struggling to conceive and undergoing expensive treatments. They both need some extra cash. Annie comes up with the idea to sell overpriced lotion to the wealthy members of her community. At first, neither Annie nor Sarah feel too bad about this scam, but as Sarah gets to know the women better, she sees that they have their own struggles too. The characters in the book are sweet and quirky with just the right amount of humor. It's an easy, perfect-for-the-beach read.

After reading a steady diet for the podcast (3 Book Girls), I read this little gem and it felt like digging into a pint of Ben and Jerry's. The author's sense of humor made me want to be best friends with her immediately. I have been a stay-at-home mom, and a childless woman, so the two main characters struck a personal chord. I've also been to book clubs with rich snobby women, so again I felt a connection. Beyond that, the plot to sell rich women $2.000 face cream to help pay for therapy for one character's autistic child, and the other's IVF , was pure genius. What could possibly go wrong?
There were so many moments of tiny triumph where women prevail that I found myself cheering for even the rich bitches. Deep down, no matter what our circumstances, we all have the same issues. I loved this book, the humor is what won me over! By the way, the audio performance was spectacular!
