This new book by Ava Bond follows the adventures of another member of the Oxford Set, but can be read as a standalone. Proper Lord Lynde hates scandals, understandably, given what happened with his mother in the past. And of course he ends up with a woman entangled in a even greater scandal! He should have judged his friend Richard (the hero of the previous book) less harshly, maybe… Poor Isabel has been dragged in a smuggling gang by her devious husband and is risking her life and her reputation to save her family. And she’s probably risking her heart as well…
An engaging book, a thrilling adventure and a solid romantic plot: this book has it all. The author has lived up to my expectations after her first book and I hope she’ll go on this way. All characters are well fleshed out and quite interesting, including the side characters. I look forward to seeing the intriguing men of the Set again and I hope Viola will have a book of her own sooner or later!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
