GAH! I completely adore this trilogy so far. This second novel did not disappoint. We're learning more about the world and how different kingdoms are ran as well as some backstory on old and new characters. Pearson's writing is FANTASTIC. It's so poetic and the way she describes how events happen is just amazing. I cannot wait for the next book.

Yes, five stars. Not a perfect book, but one I thoroughly enjoyed reading. Made me want to tear my hair out at times, too.
On a very important note, my love for Rafe has grown and solidified. Same goes for his band of Dalbretch brothers. They are the found family I have been craving for since I got back to reading fiction.
