feel like this is one of those books

i was going to give this book 4 stars because storywise i liked the journey holden's going through; it was messy, frustrating, heartbreaking, and yet at the same time enlightening...in a way. but reading a whole ass book written entirely in 1st person's pov is honestly awkward for me. not my favorite style that's why it took me quite a while to finish it. but it's a classic, i remember a friend of mine raving about it, telling me to read it but i was too lazy, up until now.

4.5/5

I genuinely thought I had started the wrong book because the tone and voice was so different from what I was expecting. This was a really pleasant surprise.

This guy was an asshole but a hilarious one. I saw some similarities to Tarantino's writing style at times.

A brilliant coming-of-age book. If all Salinger books are like this, I reckon I have a new favourite author.

Really wish I’d read it earlier in my life
