I didn’t read through all of the appendices (and truthfully, they make up half the book), but I believe they would prove very useful as references when teaching. I think this book is a good starting point to learning about Indigenous issues in Canada and how the Indian Act shaped a lot of this country’s history

Extremely essential read for indigenous and non indigenous Canadians alike, will be using the appendix section as reference till the day I die... crucial crucial information

I think it’s important that every Canadian reads this. This insidious piece of legislation was designed to control and eventually eliminate the indigenous population. It has thankfully failed and now we need to navigate a new path forward.
The book is very legible and has some useful information in the appendices. There is a timeline of the residential school system from inception to dismantlement. The 94 calls to action of TRC are reproduced as well making this a good reference to have in every school library

This was an excellent book. Well written, non-repetitive, and so, so important.

I really liked how accessible and concise this book was. It covered a wide range topics and is a good book for those who are starting the reconciliation process. I liked the thorough appendices at the end and the examples throughout the book. I am looking forward to reading some of the Joseph's recommendations.
