1. The main character had no depth, she didn’t have any dialogue that wasn’t some sarcastic remark and it only made her irritating rather than tasteful.
2. The world building idea was good, the execution poor. So many different things were introduced with zero background & with too much detail (I don’t care how to play the card game) or a lack of detail (I still have no idea about 90% of the concepts in here).
3. It felt as though the book was a make up of different specific scenes/tropes that the author wanted to include that didn’t fit the actual story. It felt like the MC just got tossed around to random places that had nothing to do with the over-arching plot just so the love interest could take part in popular tropes.
4. The multiple POV’s were odd. Having a POV introduced after reading 3/4 of the book, just for her to have the same lack of depth & snarky remark problems as the MC was slightly jarring. Her part to play in the story could have been cut down to one chapter of finding the item she sought.
5. Other characters introduced just seemed regurgitated & slightly repackaged from a myriad of other similar book characters.
6. The word count should have been halved at the least.

I didn't expect to like this book. I had read a lot of criticisms of it and to be fair most of them are valid.  The negatives? This book is written very poetically and because of that it can be wordy.  There are no short sentences as everything is described to the minute detail.  I can see how some people would find this hard to get into a groove for reading.

But the detailed explanations pay off in the depth that is revealed in the characters personality and interactions.  This book straddles the categories of high fantasy and romantasy perfectly.  There are intricate story lines in a believable world. Are the two main characters figuring out how to be a couple? yes? but this is primarily as a result of the story progressing and not the reason for the story progressing.

Can't wait for book two!

I really loved this book. Sometimes the pacing felt a bit slow and repetitive in parts but it was worth it for the reveals.

Overall Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️, explicit
Narration Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
🎤 Sarah Moro-Christensen & Fajer Al-Kaisi
📚 multiple POV, 1st person & 3rd person
Series: The Moonfall Series, Book 1
Do I recommend this book: 👍🤷‍♀️
Will I read the next book in the series: 👍🤷‍♀️

♥️ romantacy
♥️ elaborate world building
♥️ dragons
♥️ he falls first

Whilst I enjoyed the story I felt lost the majority of the way through. Not the usual fantasy world building confusion but confusion due to the overly wordy story.

The world was great (once I understood it), the dragons were good and the love interest was a strong, devoted warrior.

Narration: The male narrator was excellent but I struggled with the female narrator’s FMC voice. It was a combination of newsreader and annoyingly breathy. The other
Voices were excellent, I only struggled with the voice of Raeve.

Again, I did enjoy the story but I don’t think it’s going to be for everyone. If you love high fantasy I’d recommend giving it a go.

Will read the next one. But the world building is hard core and not for the faint of heart and the fmc was frustrating for me at times.
