one of the better ones

Baki was a nice change of pace from the Drixonians. He was the peaceful stoner boy and i was 100% here for it. So freaking precious. Thea was a great foil and support for him and vice versa.

Spice: 3/5

Triggers: violence, gore, captivity (off page), hypothermia

With her, I wanted to be a Drixonian warrior rather than the weird, reclusive Baki.

This was a great addition to the series - even being a short novella it was still told really well and I fell hard for Baki & Thea. Ella Maven is a master in this genre and I'm loving it!! A great story that really adds to the Outcasts of Corin series.

Thea and Baki

This "Christmas special" was so sweet. It was nice to get some insight on the reclusive Baki. I felt for his mate, Thea, right away. She's only been abducted for a short time when we meet her. She scared and injured. Baki handles the situation so well like the honorable warrior that he is.

My first introduction to this author and it wasn’t too bad. It was a very short story but it set up the world well, especially for those who are familiar with the kidnapped-human-alien tropes.

Spice: 3/5 it was good, even though it was really only 1 scene. Not much angst and there’s a bit of insta-love because of the fated mates trope.

After rereading: 4⭐️ I still loved seeing how Baki was different from his own people. What really struck me reading this again was how much peace he felt when Thea had his back. Really great story.
Original review: 4⭐️ Very cute! I really loved Baki’s character and all of the things about him that made him different.

This is just a mix of Clecanian Series and the Ice Planet Barbarian series but with someone else’s name on it. I’d consider it plagiarism actually if I didn’t like the books so much. I always said ice planet Barbarians needed to be waaayy shorter.
