K.A Tucker is beyond talented and reading this book was another wonderful example of how creative their writing unfolds. I love Zander and Romy. Their relationships and surrounding relationships are intricate, the characters perfect shades of grey, lighter shades of grey and darker shades of grey. They all have sides to them that are not solely good or bad, depictions of goals and behaviors that show brilliant characters. The story is full of adventure and I will always root for a strong bull-headed heroine. As the first book enchanted me, so has the second book. I can not wait to further progress in this adventure.

I enjoyed it but at the same time I didn’t have a “wow” effect. The human side characters felt a bit undeveloped and the story was lacklustre. The plot was very weak and I think it needed to focus way more on the characters, which it did not.

Overall, it feels like this shouldn’t have been a book on its own but should have been Book 1 Act 2/3

this is one of those books that you can pick up anytime, anywhere, and you’ll still enjoy and understand the plot. and surprisingly, as the second book in a series, it was on par as the first :)

edit on second read: COULD NOT be bothered to read the 3rd book

I absolutely love this series — yet another fantastic book by ka Tucker — the start really did a number on me though — I HATED Zander and was absolutely heartbroken by his treatment of Romeria — he was such a fucking asshole, I wanted to reach into the pages to hang him with his own intestines, cut off his dick and make him choke on it — he really was a giant knobgobbler and I was ready to end our love affair right then and there — he was no longer worthy of being my book boyfriend — I was so anxious that it was all over for Zander and  Romie — but I should have known better, I should have had more faith in the bond we developed in the first book — After King Atticus stages a rather successful coup Zander, Romeria, Elias & Gesine are on the run — Zander needs to meet up with what remains of his legionaries and Caster Gesine is determined to get Romie to a seer named Ianca for training before Ianca’s mind is lost to her visions and passes on — this causes a little friction but is eventually resolved when they detour in order to achieve both — the atmosphere in this book is definitely tense, with war brewing, fear, distrust and murder running rampant and the poison that is Romeria’s blood being distributed far and wide, causing destruction and chaos — nowhere is safe and everyone is an enemy — I absolutely love the complexity of this book — there are so many moving parts and they’re all absolutely fascinating — the characters are so well written and emotive — and their interpersonal relationships and interactions are engaging and a joy to read — just like with book one, a curse of blood and stone really drew me in and had me hanging from every word — there isn’t a single thing I didn’t absolutely love about this book — and I will accept to criticism on this series — I don’t want that kind of negativity in my life — luckily Zander redeems himself and he is now once again worthy of being my book boyfriend — I loved him, then I hated him and now I’m back in love with him again — bloody banger of a book, can’t recommend it enough
