This book was a lot. It sucked me in and I couldn’t put it down, yet I had to stop reading before bed because I kept getting weird dreams. This book is very emotional and deals with some heavy topics, and potentially could be triggering. The subtle eeriness of the paranormal phenomenon going on also adds to the need to continue reading to find out what’s going on. I saw a few things coming, but only in the short term rather than from early on in the book. I feel like you really start to see what’s happening in the second half of the book. While I was really invested in Natalie and Beau, I didn’t really see a reason why they loved each other besides their circumstance. And yet they were very convincing in the way young love is. So I guess the chemistry was there. I had visceral reactions to Matt’s behaviors. This book is a bit mind-numby but not overly so, but it stomped on my heart a lot. While I will think about how this book made me feel for a while, I wouldn’t necessarily say that I loved it. I liked it, I appreciated it, and it made me think and feel things. I like Emily Henry’s writing but the characters, atmosphere, general premise of the book is not one I’m drawn to.

The ending of this book wasn't super clear. I think that was.the point, but it annoyed me a little. But, the writing was beautiful and I found the story compelling. It was certainly different from the vast majority of YA romance novels.

This was my kind of October read (a thing I didn’t think I had). I really enjoyed trying to figure out what was happening and how all the threads pulled together—this is a mystery without being about a crime.

Definitely very good but also very confusing. I didn't love the romance in this, but it worked well with the story. Still has the Henry wit that is a standard in all of her books. I really loved Natalie and enjoyed her story and growth. I understand why the ending was so vague, but I would've loved a liiiiitle bit more. Also, I'm unsure about the Native American rep. She did research for the stories but there's mixed reports on some of the other aspects of rep.

I typically enjoy time travel books but had difficulty buying into the teenage instant soulmate story.  Confusing ending.  I also felt uncomfortable with a white author writing an Indigenous main character.
