I really enjoyed this read. The MC has a lot of trauma to work through and watching her pick through it and get her life together was really great, she’s a really likeable character and I was really gunning for her to be ok. The MMC was also likeable and funny. The whole book gives you happy feels in the end

I can absolutely see readers who can relate to this story more personally having a better time reading it. The themes of childhood trauma (via an abusive parent and a neglectful parent) and grief (via death of a sibling) were handled with care, from my perspective. And admittedly, the very very end (ie: the letter) did tug at my heartstrings because it made me imagine being in that position, as a sister to a brother who is one of my closest friends, and obviously that was emotional.

However, I rarely pick up contemporary romance for a reason... I tend to not like it. And this main character especially made this a pretty annoying reading experience. The only reason I continued listening to the audiobook is that it was pretty short, and I needed something to listen to as I was doing my nails & doing chores around the house. If it had been longer, I definitely would have dnf-ed probably around 15%.

The main character was just so aggravatingly childish, reactive, oblivious, obtuse, and ridiculously immature... and constantly jumping to WILD conclusions. She drove me crazy. I also didn't buy the romance really at all.

Really enjoyed this latest from Pagán. I enjoy her mix of light romance and hard life experiences. The characters were great and deep, and I loved the resolution. I have several more Pagáns to get caught up on, but it's always a good reading experience.
