Meh. So I am not into romance books at all and didn’t know that this was one when I reserved it at the library. I finished 10 chapters but I’m just not into it. Since I don’t normally read romance I have this at 2 stars because I don’t know if the story is bad or if I’m just not into it.

I wasn’t really happy with the last book so I’m glad to say that I liked this a whole lot better. So this wasn’t all that per see, but I still felt satisfied after reading this.

Jamar and Taylor's chemistry wasn’t to die for, but it was there. Like most books, their relationships start with other motives and grow into something by the end of the book. This is the fake dating trope and usually, other characters in the books have good reasons for fake dating but the reasons in this book didn’t seem necessary to me. I was still very fond of their relationship since they learned much from each other. I also like how some parts weren’t entirely predictable but actually surprised me with how mature they were in dealing with some things.

Individually, the characters had such great stories. Taylor’s struggles are quite realistic and I wanted to keep reading to see how she handles everything. I loved that I did see an awe-inspiring growth by the end. I was also impressed by Rochon’s illustration of Taylor’s projections on her family. I really thought we were going to get the typical my family thinks I’m a nobody and the readers are supposed to hate them, but we actually get a good storyline that teaches us more about the importance of family communication. Jamar’s story was also a great illustration of how guilt really can affect you in multiple ways. I really do think they were good for each other.

I always love a “romance” book that has so much to it than just a romance.

Cute romance book that’s easy to read and I found a little better than the first book. While the first one in the series was more of a world-builder in terms of the girls friendship and position in life, this was focused more on the relationship of Jamar and Taylor. Love that these are all strong adult women, not teenagers who just turned 18.

Good and entertaining read

Well written and captures the attention. Good character development. Taylors behavior was a bit frustrating at times. That just shows investment in the books and characters. Would def recommend the read.

Okay now I want to read everything Farrah Rochon has ever written.

This was so sweet and just had goooood vibes. These two main characters were complex and fully formed - each having their own personal struggles, which added depth to the story but never overwhelmed it. I really liked both main characters individually and as a couple.

It was just a great rom com - a perfect read over Valentine’s Day weekend. And now that I see the vibes that Farrah Rochon can bring to the table (making this gal who usually doesn’t swoon over sports romances swoon over this sports romance) I am excited to try out more of her books.

This was fine! Not anything I'll be thinking about for the next few weeks but also not bad. I didn't like the trope of the fake dating in this book as much as in other books I've read but the relationship did feel pretty real. Both main characters were likeable and I did find myself rooting for them, so that's a plus!

Taylor and Jamar were so frustrating at times but as I expected, Farrah Rochon carried them to end with grace and a big red bow on top.
