Fake dating is a trope I will read again and again and never get bored of it.

Taylor needs to find a way to expand her business and pay the bills, she needs new customers and fast.

When Jamar stumbled upon a pop up fitness class by Taylor he is sure she is the answer to his problem. As an ex football player who only got to play for one season, he is determined to go back and play again, his old injury is as good as ever, he just need a personal trainer to push him and help him be in his best physical condition.

Taylor knows that an endorsement from a football player will definitely help her bussiness even if they can only train in secret. This creates a problem when people notice them together, the only answer is to pretend they are dating.

The time they spend together while working out was so wonderful. Especially when they had to pretend to be a couple, which came easier than it should.

Their attraction was undeniable from the start and it was amazing to see them be truly together. One of the things I truly enjoyed was the personal growth that was evident in both characters.

The female friendship has a big role in this book, as it did in the first book of the series, it is one of my favourite things to read about. I can't wait to see London get her happy ending next.

* I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion.

I liked Taylor and Jamar’s story but I thought it lacked a lot of chemistry at first that I did not truly believe they were in love by the end of the story. I liked them so much more separately than together but I connected with Taylor on so many levels, though - I’m also a Taylor and being 28 is so hard.

Let’s see what’s next in London’s book!

So excited when this book came off my library hold because I adored the first book in the series and I am happy to report that the second in the series held up. This is a fake dating/professional athlete romance where our hero (injured professional football player Jamar) hires Taylor as a personal trainer in order to get him back on track for a return to the NFL. I really related to Taylor, her financial predicament, the decision of whether or not to go back to school, living check to check, she is the quintessential young millenial and that anxiety is so real. In the first book when you meet the trio of jilted ladies Taylor comes across as loud and confident but it was nice to get into her head. I felt that the pacing got a bit off in the middle, once they no longer had a client/trainer relationship the will they won't they wasn't solved right away but their chemistry and compatibility was very evident from the beginning. I am not the athletic type so some focus on the diet and fitness regiment was a bit exhausting for me but overall super cute 3.5⭐

This was a cute black love story. I appreciate that romance authors are adding more depth to their characters, but Rochon went overboard with this book. Our main character Taylor, is broke, has a struggling business, a strained relationship with her family, guilt of her past big mistakes when it comes to her relationships, and a learning disability. I mean, geez, one or two struggles wouldn’t have been enough? It was so much to reconcile and wrap up in a nice bow, but Rochon did it, and it didn’t feel rushed. And while I’m all for complex characters, give a sister a break!

Cute I liked this one much better than the 1st book in the series. I can't wait for the 3rd book.

I loved The Boyfriend Project, and this follow-up was one of my most anticipated reads of 2021. And WOWWW, it was even better than I expected. Taylor was so strong, yet so vulnerable, and one of her insecurities was something I could relate to. My heart was hurting for her, while also hoping for her. Jamar was trying to do what he felt was right for everyone but himself. They are exactly what each other needed. An incredibly spectacular read!

DID NOT FINISH

DNF at about 75%

Taylor Powell has dreams of being successful when it comes getting her fitness consulting business on the map. How can she work on getting her name out there, especially since she had a previous bad experience that slowed her down? Meanwhile, she is running short on funds and tall on bills and other expenses. Her two friends, Samiah and London are in her corner, but sadly that isn't enough.

When she is approached to Jamar Dixon to be his personal trainer Taylor definitely sees dollar signs. He is a professional football player working to get back into the NFL, but needs help as he had a bad injury which required surgery. He needs to get into top shape. Jamar is practically a household name, so having him as a client would definitely get Taylor's name and business known. However, there is one issue and that is a major issue. Jamar wants to keep his training with Taylor on the down-low.

Since Jamar is adament about keeping this private, how better for the two to spend long hours together than acting as if they are dating? Okay, Taylor goes for it. There is a problem that makes itself known almost before the two even gets started. They are attracted to one another, something Taylor refuses to act on. In fact, both Taylor and Jamar walk into this with baggage. Will they be able to climb over their past hurts and turn their fake dating into something real? Something permanent?

I really loved this second book in the Boyfriend Project series. Both Taylor and Jamar were solid characters. Factor in the continuity with Samaih and London's characters, and this proved to be a relatable read, enjoyable from start to finish.

Many thanks to Forever and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
