this book took me forever to read. I'm dead okay. I got two more to read by July 31st. prayers! this Harry Potter book is one of my favorite books so let's get into the thoughts and ~prayers~ that this goes well.

okay, so, this book is definitely the most emotional book. like I think jk Rowling did a nice job of portraying how broken Harry Potter was this entire book, and he expressed his feelings the entire book. we start off with harry having nightmares of Cedric's death. he feels isolated bc no one is writing to him. then, he gets ~expelled~ from Hogwarts after the dementors incident and threatens to just run away. he screams at Ron and Hermione a lot just about his feelings and them isolating him which broke my heart. which is so understandable. our baby is heartbroken. like harry witnessed someone DIE in front of him, so obviously he is going to feel a bit broken and sad about it. his anger is constantly revealing himself like how he keeps getting in trouble with umbridge for being unhinged, he punches Malfoy during a quidditch match because he insults Harry's mom and Molly Weasley. anyways, harry's emotion makes him human and the past four books we see harry be this strong character that saves people and ends up on the right side of things but now he feels like he has lost.

sirius. I can't even fathom how much his death constantly hurts me when I read it. the movie does an EXCEPTIONAL job with this scene, and harry being in denial of sirius dying thinking he would appear again breaks my heart and the fact that he never used the mirror KILLS ME. like reading that winter break was not only the first time he left Hogwarts for Christmas and that was the last time that sirius saw him before he died I--.

umbridge. is there any umbridge Stans? she is the worst. same with Peter pettigrew like who LIKES THEm.

the ending is SO different than the movie, and voldemort doesn't stay in harry for that long, and also, Dumbledore and Voldemort's fight was brief not like it is in the movie. definitely cooler I might add but I'm a sucker for the department of mysteries fighting and literally neville breaking his nose and being so strong against bellatrix makes me love him more.

ginny. wanted to mention her because she shined in this book. she was a seeker while harry got suspended and was so good. she literally was so smart and was one of the best members in the DA. she literally jinxed Malfoy and was a huge reason that Ron, luna, neville and her escaped like what a gal. she has always been a queen, but this book really shown how she is definitely a clever witch.

cho. jk Rowling gave her sh**. like how can you write harry as broken and have him be sympathized for, and cho wasn't even given the same decency. like SERIOUSLY. she was broken after her boyfriend died and having to read about harry staring at her was cringe but when they kiss and get together, it was always mentioned how she cried a lot. she was emotional. she seemed crazy etc etc. like why couldn't cho get a decent writing and not be stereotypical like are you kidding me. cho being emotional was a punchline, and that isn't cool.

Snape. his memory is pretty accurate to the movie, and the movie cut out when Snape called hermione a mud blood as they want us to sympathize with this trash. gross.

Dumbledore. as a kid, I never really liked Dumbledore that much like I think he is a good character, but I feel like he shouldn't be praised as much as he is. he literally indirectly caused sirius' death. he should have been more open with harry, and he wasn't like how selfish. he kept harry in an abusive environment for *safety* bc they are blood which this excuse made little sense but whatever. he didn't reveal that voldermort could manipulate the vision. he distanced himself when harry needed him most. he finally revealed the prophecy but the point is Dumbledore keeping secrets from him was messy.

mcGonagall. she was a bad*** in this book. she warned harry not to lose his temper with umbridge. she was sassing umbridge left and right. like literally in the career meeting where she defied umbridge with saying harry would be a bad auror. how she didn't help umbridge stop the Weasleys. how she was hit in the chest by FOUR stunning curses and LIVED. she's a queen let's bow down. IMAGINE if the movie kept these scenes in like Maggie would have done SO well.

key movie differences. Fred and George didn't leave in owls like in the movie bc that makes NO SENSe. dobby finds the room of requirement instead of neville (they give dobby plot lines to neville nothing new). I missed having Firenze. just a lot of scenes were cut obviously to make time. the person that snitches on the DA. some small details. also shoutout to all the members of the DA. I liked the prefect storyline, and how that was another reason harry felt left out. anyway amazing book. one of the best.
