This book marks a shift in the series and makes me a little sad, but it's still well-written. The blood quill scene scares me no matter how many times I read it. I also always find myself hoping that that part won't actually happen, but unfortunately, it does.

What a journey...
It took me a while to get through, but I finally did it, and wow. I'd heard going into this that it was either the worst book in the series or the best and I personally would put it closer to the best than the worst.
What I enjoyed:
Possibly my favourite parts of the book were the scenes where Umbridge and McGonnagall just threw passive aggressive comments at each other, it was hilarious to see two such strong characters have absolutely to tolerance for one another, and to see McGonnagall tear into Umbridge truly gave me life.
Luna's character was definitely a breath of fresh air, she always managed to lighten the mood no matter what situation she was in, in her own, strange, way.
The conversation between Harry and Dumbledore at the end felt so raw and emotional, as well as satisfying, as it explains all of the strange behaviour on Dumbledore's part, over the course of the book, and answers questions that have been around since book 1. It was also quite impactful to see how much Dumbledore genuinely cares about Harry and how much he thinks of him; their relationship grew so much in the story.
The thestrals. They're just cool to me.
The coming-together of Dumbledore's Army and getting to see the students fight back against Umbridge. Then seeing those, who went with Harry in the third act, fight by his side and do what needed to be done.
The way Harry starts dealing with Sirius' death in the end, when he talks to different people and recieves different kinds of reactions, questioning life and death and what it means and wondering if he can ever truly move on and be happy again.
Umbridge... she was just the worse (in a good way) need I say more.
What I didn't like:
The middle of the book sagged quite a bit at parts, most of it was enjoyable, but some was such a slog to get through. I don't remember much of what happened, a lot of the boring stuff was quite repetitive. I'm sure there was other stuff I didn't like, but I can't quite remember.
My overall rating is 9.5/10
