Much better than Goblet of fire which for me dragged and felt a little too angsty reading now as an adult.

I can't help but constantly think about all the plot holes or poor explanations of things which bug me, if only she could go back and re write it all and make it all make perfect sense.

Read the illustrated version with my 8 year old. I was worried it would be too scary or mature for her but honestly it wasn’t too bad. She wasn’t as entertained by this one though. Still always fun to visit the magical world.

Reading this book as an adult and in Trump’s America unfortunately hits differently. What a shame that the author who writes so poignantly about the perils of a Fascist world has, twenty years later, become the thing her books highlight to be the most spineless, tactless repulsion to society.
