Didn't live up to my expectations at *all.* I enjoyed the Rose Walker arc, but the rest were so tedious.

"People think dreams aren't real just because they aren't made of matter, of particles. Dreams are real. But they are made of viewpoints, of images, of memories and puns and lost hopes." - Neil Gaiman

A beautiful volume recapping the comics I was first introduced to 20 years ago, reading them four rows back in a World Lit survey course (rather than the assignments or listening to the lecture).

When I found this in my LCBS a month ago, I became determined to own the complete series in this format. And that was before I saw the "DVD extras" like the full work up and early art stages of issue #19, which won the World Fantasy Award for short fiction and, subsequently, "inspired" the committee to change the rules so no comic could ever do so again. Watching Gaiman's thought processes and asides to his team pull me even more fully into the intoxicating tale.

There are things in here about responsibility, reality and unreality, history, literature, and awesomeness. It's gory and vicious and definitely for mature readers, and it's not my favorite genre ever, nor my favorite story. But I don't read too many graphic novels, and for one of my first forays into the genre, it worked very well.

Subbing this for the audio drama released this year - cheating, I know, but I want it on Goodreads. But it's still the first twenty chapters and the same content. Just won't be commenting on the art. I don't know why I was surprised at how dark it was in places, but then I guess it was of the time. I see why Death has a following, and Morpheus is interesting too.

Kind of curious about what the overall plot is going to be? A lot of it was more vignettes, but I remember that this is a comic, so there's plenty of one shot action happening here.

Must check out the actual comic sometime.

A great collection of decent comic/graphic novel. It was enjoyable, but not fully something for me.

This isn't quite accurate--I didn't finish the book. I read the comics and will save the miscellaneous stuff at the end to read after going through all four (?) volumes.
